Beginning Quilting Course (semester only)

In this Beginning Quilting Class, I will introduce you to the fundamental skills and techniques of machine piecing and quilting, including sewing machine basics, fabric basics, accurate fabric cutting, machine piecing, machine quilting, and binding.  We will be making a lap-size quilt from start to finish.   This class is ideal for ages 10 and up, though younger students are welcome with parental supervision.  We will be using sharp cutting tools and hot irons.  There will be basic sewing supplies to borrow for the class, but if you have a sewing machine to bring, please do! There will only be two machines available to use at this time.  During the first class, we will review how to select fabric to be purchased, but if you would like to plan ahead, there are two size choices: 32”x32” or 41”x41”.

Quilt Size 32”x32”

1 Charm Pack -or- 3 fabrics, ⅓ yard each

Quilt Size 41”x41”

Physical Science (Lab Only)

This class will focus on performing the labs and experiments only for Physical Science, using Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Physical Science, 3rd Edition. All materials will be provided for each student to have their own setup for each lab/experiment.  The coursework and tests are to be completed at home, up to the parents’ discretion.

Requirements: Apologia Exploring Creating with Physical Science, 3rd Edition, Textbook and Student Notebook (out of print).  The 4th Edition can be used, as it generally covers the same topics, however, there are a few experiments that differ from the 3rd to the 4th edition. If you have access to a 3rd edition textbook but not a student notebook (out of print!), I will be providing blank Experiment and Lab Reports to use in class.

From Apologia’s description: “Students will explore the science of God’s physical laws of creation as they study chemistry, physics, earth science, and science research concepts. Students will complete labs and hands-on projects throughout the course for an immersive learning experience with practical application.”
