Students will be taught the steps and patterns in the most basic of Ballroom dances: the Foxtrot, Waltz, and Swing (and more if they are fast learners).  They will be taught how to properly and politely ask and accept an invitation to dance. They will be taught to lead and to follow a partner, basic foot positions, how to count the music, how to listen and identify the beats of music, and how to know on which beat to start.  They will learn turning and spinning techniques, both alone and with partners. They will also be taught dance floor etiquette. The students will rotate partners throughout the class session so that everyone will have an opportunity to dance with everyone else, to give them experience with dancing with people who are more and less proficient than they might be – as that is what it will be in the real-life situations they will experience.  No materials are needed; however, students are expected to wear shoes with leather or plastic soles as we only have a carpeted room to dance in, and rubber soles do not allow them to slide or spin properly on carpet.  After this class is completed, there will be two levels of Intermediate Level classes, and then an Advanced class offered  Tutor maintains the discrepancy to move a student up to a higher-level class based upon their proficiency, and also to hold back a student to repeat the same class before advancing to the next level if they have not been able to complete the basic functions of the class they are in.    Deposit to hold class space:  $50 per student due on registration day.   Family Discounts: Cost for first or only one child: $420 + $40 HERC fee = $460.  The second sibling in the family would receive a 25% discount ($460 - $121 discount = $330). Any subsequent siblings would receive a 45% discount ($460 - $168 = $252).  These fees all include the $40 HERC fee.   Payment plans:  There will be two types of payment plans offered, as follows:   1) Family may pay ½ of the fee at the start of the first semester, and the balance at the start of the second semester.   2) Anyone with extenuating financial circumstances will be allowed to make monthly payments but may do so only by going through automatic bank debit (set it up with your bank to automatically mail a check to me on the 1st of each month).
