algebra, math, Michelle Law
Updated: Full year course covering the following concepts: definitions of algebraic language; powers; inequalities; equations (basic 2step and multistep); factoring and applications of factoring polynomials; functions and graphs, lines, slopes; solving systems of equations; quadratics; and solving rate problems and other word problems. Class is interactive and there is an end of year project to demostrate comprehension and application of concepts learned. Required: Saxon Algebra 1 Student Text, 3rd Edition (It's ORANGE, be sure it's the 3rd edition). Also REQUIRED: Saxon Algebra 1 Solutions Manual. Cost Note: In order to complete the material for the math course in one year, the class will need to meet twice a week. And I have found the twice a week instruction is crucial for improved student comprehension.

Updated: This class will consist of labs, demos and discussion to complement the Apologia Chemistry text (2nd Ed). The lab experiments in the text will be a starting point, but may be substituted/supplemented with ones that create high interest and more thoroughly explain concepts from the text. Since this class covers only the lab portion of Chemistry, students will also need to complete the chapter work and take exams apart from this class. This class may be taken separately or in conjunction with Chemistry Lecture that is offered 3rd period. Curriculum required: Exploring Creation with Chemistry set (text, tests, solutions), 2nd Ed., by Dr. Jay L. Wile.
